Next-Generation Xbox Coming Next Year? [Rumor]

Next-Generation Xbox Coming Next Year? [Rumor]

Microsoft's Xbox 360 is already seven years old, yet, it's still selling pretty good, as proven by its recent milestone of 750,000 sales during Black Friday last week. So, it is safe to say that the Xbox 360 is still hot and trending. But things could go from good to better because Bloomberg is saying that the next-generation Xbox video gaming console is already scheduled for next year, particularly during the holiday season. Insider sources told the publication that Microsoft isn't sure whether or not it will unveil its next-generation Xbox at E3 next year or at a separate event solely intended for the purported console.

TalkingTILES gives everyone a chance to speak

Last fall, I told you how one of my family members was using an iPad and some apps as he recovered from a stroke.  There are a lot of people, like George, who are non-verbal or speech-impaired due to a neurological disorder or brain trauma.  There have been many approaches to helping them communicate, and TalkingTILES from Mozzaz is using mobile technology to give these people a voice.  TalkingTILES was developed in conjunction with researchers, practitioners, and families, and this application is available for iOS and Android now and soon for Microsoft Windows 8 and BlackBerry.

2013 Toyota RAV4 loses V6, gains technology and utility

Toyota, after a week of refusing to confirm or deny the validity of leaked 2012 RAV4 images, rolled out its all-new compact crossover under the lights of the LA Auto Show today. And, as is often the case in this industry, the real deal looks just like it did in those unconfirmed pictures. Yet there was more to learn than just confirming its new styling. As many suspected, Toyota will no longer offer six-cylinder power for the RAV4. The automaker announced that the standard powerplant will be a 2.5-liter four-cylinder (rated at 176 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque) mated to a new six-speed automatic.

A Swedish online store (http://www,dustin.se) has laid claim that demand for the Nokia Lumia 920 is not artificially engineered, and has classified it to be "absolutely huge", where it actually caused a backlog that is twice as big as that compared to the hot selling Samsung Galaxy S3. Yes sir, we did talk earlier this morning concerning the rather hungry demand for the Lumia 920 in Nokia's homeland, and Sweden, which is a Scandinavian country that has a tiny penetration of Windows Phone devices, also has seen phenomenal demand for the Windows Phone 8-powered device.

Raspberry Pi Powers Small Arcade Cabinet

Raspberry Pi Powers Small Arcade Cabinet

There is just something about the wonders of miniaturization, and what happens when a geek decides to work on an extremely small arcade cabinet. The kind of computing power that he needs to fall back upon would be rather limited, but this is where the unique and versatile Raspberry Pi (which is due for an update with a camera, by the way) comes in handy. Sure, the Raspberry Pi is definitely far from being the most powerful computer in the market, but it does pack more than enough punch to handle classic arcade-style video games.

NEC DNA Analyzer Miniaturized

The word "miniaturize" is a very subjective word, and how small a particular device is really depends on what the original size is. Well, here we are with NEC and a DNA analyzer that has been shrunken down to the size of a suitcase. According to NEC, this particular DNA analyzer is capable of processing samples right at the crime or disaster scene, taking as little as 25 minutes to churn out a particular result. No idea on whether it is accurate or not, but I guess NEC would not be horsing around if it isn't.

Misfit Shine – Is it the coolest pedometer, activity tracker yet?

Are you feeling guilty about everything you ate yesterday for Thanksgiving. Yeah me too… especially because all I did after dinner was sit around visiting with relatives. I didn't move much at all, which isn't good. Pedometers and activity trackers have become more and more popular in the past couple of years because they show us just how lazy we are and motivate us to change bad habits. I've reviewed several different fitness gadgets over the years, but the Misfit Shine looks like it's going to blow all the others out of the water when it becomes available next Spring.

LG E900 Optimus 7 Skips Windows Phone 7.8 Update

Microsoft did mention before that they intend to roll out the Windows Phone 7.8 operating system update to all handsets by taking the Over the Air (OTA) route which would not require any form of carrier intervention at all. That sounds fine and dandy, but it seems that OEMs do have a role to play after all, but not in LG's case it seems. The South Korean company failed to roll out any follow-up software updates to their first generation of Windows Phones, and they seem to have absolved all responsibility. A WP7.com.pl reader did ask LG whether they will be rolling out the Windows Phone 7.8 update, but the response was not too favorable.

Samsung Runs Into 441ppi Display Troubles?

We did hear that Samsung might be preparing to announce the next version of their flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S4 at MWC next year in Barcelona, Spain, and one of the main features of this future-proof smartphone would be a spanking new 5" Full HD resolution display that carries a pixel density of 441ppi, clearly making it one of the highest quality where 5" smartphones are concerned. Unfortunately, it seems as though the folks over at Samsung have hit a snag, where Samsung Display is unable to roll out these high-density panels because there is a serious lack of high-end technology required to produce them on a pass scale.

New Volkswagen Beetles Recalled, Experiences Front Passenger Airbag Issues

It seems that vehicle recalls seem to be getting more and more common these days, and Japanese car manufacturers are not the only ones who are affected, as the recently revealed 2012-2013 Volkswagen Beetles are not exempt. They are the latest batch of cars to be recalled no thanks to issues surrounding the front passenger airbag's sensor which potentially are unable to detect a child's car seat. The repercussions of that. Assuming you get into a collision and your child is strapped in his or her child car seat in front, the airbag would still deploy, thinking that an adult is seated in front instead, and this could result in suffocation.

Jeep supplier denies responsibility for airbag recall

Kemet Corporation, an electrical component manufacturer, has denied claims by Chrysler officials that it is responsible for a massive Jeep recall. On November 9, Chrysler announced it was recalling 920,000 Jeep vehicles after receiving more than 100 reports of unintended airbag deployments. While no crashes or injuries were reported, Chrysler filed documents with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration saying that supplier TRW Automotive had made a material change in the airbag module, and that the change was responsible for the deployments.

XtremeGuard Screen Protector review

XtremeGuard Screen Protector review

I am a huge advocate for using screen protection on tech-gear. I cannot remember the last time I did not use one on any of my devices, from my MacBook Air to my Suunto Elemental Terra watch.  Dorky as it sounds, when a good deal on protectors hits the Net, I buy them for friends and family who ‘need' them on their smartphone, tablet, or laptop. I know how AR that sounds, but I think of it as doing a good deed for those who do not know better . As the story goes, XtremeGuard was having a 1-day sale on their entire line of military grade films, so I bought a handful to pass and try out.
