LG Televisions To Feature OLED, UHD And New User Experience At CES 2013

[CES 2013] LG has announced that it will demonstrate a new range of televisions including a huge 84″ that features a UHD/4K resolution, and a 55-inch OLED model which will be the follow-up of last year's introduction of OLED televisions as official LG “commercial products”. It's clear that UHD is best demonstrated with larger sizes and so far, most 84″ television that we've seen (including Sony's own Sony XBR-84X900 84″ LED TV) have looked extraordinary. However, the real question for both OLED and UHD TVs is: how fast can the prices drop.

Suzuki recalling 2,800 XL7 models over faulty fuel pump

A recall has been issued for the 2007 Suzuki XL7, but only those vehicles either bought or registered in four states: Texas, Arizona, California and Nevada. Potentially 2,380 of the SUVs manufactured from June 13, 2006 to December 22, 2006 could have an issue with their fuel pump modules: The plastic supply or return port could crack. If that happens, it could lead to a fuel leak and then to a fire.

Meet the 701-hp Mazzanti Evantra

If you've heard of upstart boutique supercar maker Mazzanti, we salute you. About a year ago, we brought you news of this small Italian firm, which then was under the name Faralli & Mazzanti. The creation was the Evantra, and as the name of the company has changed, so has the car. The Mazzanti Evantra has been updated, and the previous turbocharged flat-six has been replaced with a 7.0-liter V8. The six-cylinder had two versions, capable of 403 or 603 horsepower. That is kid's stuff compared to the V8, which can put out an astounding 701 horsepower and 624 pound-feet or toque.

What are the Benefits of Fibre Broadband?

Fibre broadband transmits your internet connection through fibre optic wires which are capable of maintaining strong signal over much greater distances than a phone line, and are much less susceptible to interference. A fibre connection can also deliver much higher speeds - which will become increasingly handy over the next few years as we continue to place great demand on our internet connections. If you are getting online through a typical ADSL copper wire connection, you may experience various issues with your connection.

It is just less than a fortnight before CES 2013 kicks off in Las Vegas, Nevada, and ZTE of China has something interesting up their sleeves that they want you to know about the ZTE Grand S. This will be another smartphone to join the elite 5" Full HD display smartphone, which is currently occupied by the likes of the HTD Droid DNA and Oppo Find 5. Well, the ZTE Grand S is apparently thinner than originally thought, where most folks thought that it would be 7.6mm thin, but a recent slide of the phone showed that it is thinner than that – measuring a mere 6.9mm slim.

Research Suggests Tablets More Popular Than E-Readers For E-Books

With the convenience and slightly lower prices of e-books, it only makes sense that more and more people are starting to turn away from the print medium to the digital medium, and according to a research by the folks at Pew Internet, that certainly seems to be the case. According to their report, Americans who read e-books rose from 16% in 2011 to 23% in 2012. Granted these aren't exactly huge jumps, but it's definitely progress. Interestingly their report has also suggested that the medium in which e-books are consumed, it would seem as though tablets have edged out e-readers like Amazon's Kindle or the Barnes & Noble Nook.

Justice Frangipane and iDevices have teamed up to create this case for the iPhone which not only double as a case for your iPhone device, but at the same time turns into a gaming controller, allowing you to play games with physical buttons and controls versus onscreen controls which some might find not as intuitive for certain games.

Innovative trailer concept inspired by USB drive (video)

Innovative trailer concept inspired by USB drive (video)

When it comes to camping, Americans tend to either rough it with tents or go for broke in massive bus-size recreational vehicles. Down in Australia and New Zealand, the caravan reigns supreme. Not to be confused with the Dodge minivan offering, caravans provide humble accommodations for vacationing, but they can be pulled by much smaller vehicles than, say, a fullsize Airstream trailer. New Zealand-based design house W2 has unveiled a new twist on the caravan with the Romotow, and it is clearly not your ordinary camper trailer. Claimed to be inspired by a USB drive, this trailer folds in and out of itself, providing extra living space.

Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible photos hit web early

It was Indiana Jones and that whole ark episode that gave us the best example of what happens after leaks: once you break the seal, all hell breaks loose and there's no way you're putting it back. We aren't sure who lifted the lid, but official photos of the 2013 Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible showed up on Flickr last week, and so here we are presenting them to you. If it follows the Bentley playbook as the last GT Speed – and we have no reason to believe it won't – beyond the lack of a top there won't be much difference between it and the coupe than a few minor numerals.

It was just last week when we said that Steve Jobs's yacht named “Venus” was impounded in Amsterdam because of some money matters that have yet to be settled between Steve Jobs and designer Philippe Starck. Well, after hitting the headlines, Steve Jobs's estate has paid a deposit to Starck on Monday to settle the dispute. Hague lawyer Gerard Moussault told AFP on Monday that “Venus” is no longer impounded and that the dispute has been resolved. “A security deposit was paid into a bank account, but I cannot say for how much,” he said.

We do have this problem surrounding batteries, especially when it comes to the issue of disposing them in a safe manner. Well, nature has come to humanity's rescue once again, where an ancient natural red plant dye could actually be the ideal candidate to create an eco-friendly, sustainable, lithium-ion battery. Researchers are currently looking into developing batteries that will rely on the roots of a climbing herb known as the madder plant. For more than 3,500 years, civilizations in Asia and the Middle East have boiled madder roots to extract purpurin, a nontoxic dye they used to color fabrics vivid oranges, reds and pinks.

Oh boy, this is about to get confusing with a capital Q. Infiniti has just announced a brand-new scheme that calls for completely new model names across its entire lineup of vehicles. Making things even more difficult will be the fact that all coupes, convertible and sedans will get a Q prefix while all crossovers and SUVs will be prefixed with QX.
Further muddying the waters, previous engine displacement monikers will be replaced by a double-digit number "representing hierarchy within the range." Put less simply, the slot in the lineup currently held by the G Sedan will be called Q50 while the G Coupe and Convertible will be called Q60.

Dodge recalls 2013 Durango over 'incorrect seating capacity information labels'

A bad labeling job is at the root of Dodge recalling 734 units of the its 2013 Durango. The SUVs in question, built from April 27 to September 14 of this year, could have been affixed with labels that overstate the seating capacity. That contravenes federal regulations, and could lead to an accident due to owners putting too many people in the vehicle. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says a the recall should begin in February, 2013. Dodge will "provide replacement labels" to owners who can apply them on their own or have their dealers apply the correct labels free of charge.
