According to the rumors, the iPad 3 is expected to feature a Retina display with a whopping resolution of 2048×1536 packed into a presumably 9.7" display. Without doubt if those rumors are to come true, it would be one heck of a display, but according to new rumors, manufacturers Acer and ASUS are attempting to create high density displays of their own in an effort to head off the rumored iPad 3 Retina display. Digitimes is reporting that both AU Optronics and Chi Mei Innolux are currently working on 1920×1280 LCDs that would be part of Acer and ASUS's new ultrabooks as early as January or February of 2012.
Ubergizmo, Acer and ASUS could debut 1080p ultrabooks in 2012
