Android now accounts to 68 percent of global smartphone shipments in Q2 this year

Contrary to our previous report from technology research firm Strategy Analytics that revealed Android's U.S. market share dropping to 56 percent in Q2 this year from last year's 60 percent during the second quarter, industry analyst Canalys is saying that Android is doing quite pretty well in China, with roughly 80 percent of smartphones shipped in the second quarter of this year in the nation running the platform. On a global scale,  Android continues to grow, surpassing 100 million quarterly smartphone shipments for the first time and reaching two-thirds share of the market, Canalys says.
