Sharp's AQUOS SH-06D will most probably never leave the Land of The Rising Sun. That doesn't stop us, however, from lusting after its 4.5-inch. This 720p display also manages 3D, spread across a slinky 10mm frame that houses NTT DoCoMo's recently launched NOTTV streaming broadcast system. The device arrives in pink, white and blue options - all provided with a matching dock and built-in aerial. Like several eastern phones with the ability to tune into live TV broadcasts, the AQUOS SH-06D has its own extendable antenna built into the side.

Aston Martin unleashes new Vantage GTE on WEC, Le Mans (video)

Few outfits have benefited from the kind of success that Aston Martin Racing has enjoyed. The team has emerged as an absolutely dominant force in the numerous GT classes of endurance racing around the world. But Aston's success arguably went to its head a little, prompting AMR to abandon its GT racing program to privateers as the team itself attempted to step up to the top-tier LMP1 class with the AMR-One. That ended up a fool's errand that yielded none of the success to which the Prodrive squadron had become accustomed.

$35 Raspberry Pi Linux PC pre-orders sell out in less than a day

. As promised, the $35 Raspberry Pi Linux computer was made available for pre-order on Wednesday. The single-board computer is equipped with a 700MHz processor, 256MB of RAM, SD card support, two USB ports, an Ethernet hookup and both HDMI and RCA outputs. Despite the low cost and small size - which is roughly equal to a credit card - the Raspberry Pi computer is powerful enough to run games such as Quake III Arena and power 1080p video. Additionally, the cheaper Model A unit, which removes the Ethernet hookup and a USB port, received an increase from 128MB to 256MB of RAM and will be on sale later this year.

Check in while having safe sex

Check in while having safe sex

Checking in on your mobile device is not new at all, as this “act” has become old hat for many. The novelty of being a “mayor” at a particular social setting has also lost its lustre, but how about pitting something that most folks are interested in – sex. We are talking about safe sex here, where “checking in” whenever you have had a sexual encounter using condoms would encourage more folks to realize that safe sex is not something to be avoided, but rather, encouraged.

Volkswagen optical illusion car conjured

Volkswagen optical illusion car conjured

Someone just hire designer Sangwoo Lee already – this guy conjured this particular Volkswagen concept that was inspired by optical art and visual kinetics. Known as the Volkswagen Optism (what a name – I am not that optimistic that it will hit the streets though), it was specially created with horizontal slants that will have the vehicle change its “character” when viewed from a different angle. The lines themselves do seem to create movement as well as direction, and since these lines are all over the place, ranging from the exterior all the way to the wheels and the interior.

eBay uses hot water to keep desert data center cool

How does keeping something cool with hot water make senses. Well, this is exactly what eBay is doing with their data center which lies smack in the Phoenix desert, where the temperature there can actually hit highs of 115 degrees Fahrenheit, so hot water actually keeps the data center cool. Interesting revelation, don't you think so. eBay claims that the water in their outdoor tower tank will touch 87 degrees on the hottest of summer days, and it is more than cool enough to ensure that the facility's servers will not touch the extreme temperatures and arrive at a malfunction status.

The Samsung Galaxy Beam certainly occupies a unique niche in the world of Android-powered smartphones – it is the first of its kind that comes with an integrated projector, basically allowing you to enjoy full length movies and presentations right there and then on the spot without having to lug around a heavy projector on your travels. Well, conceiving the idea of the Samsung Galaxy Beam is certainly a journey worth telling, and Samsung has done just that.

The introduction of YouTube has certainly led to an explosive growth in user generated content, as anyone with a video recording device, a computer, and a decent Internet connection is able to upload their recorded memories for all and sundry to see. The trick is, how do you make sure your video goes viral, or is watched by millions around the globe. Being creative would be one way, while playing the unique card always helps. Orange Android on Atom Z2460. 14 day standby, 6 hrs of HD video, 8 hrs talk time. This time Intel is for real

This time Intel is getting into a smartphone game for real. Every time I come to Mobile World Congress, Intel has some hapless phone OEM lined up, showing off a reference design smartphone with some Intel chip inside. And promising the release the device by the end of the year.
It never happens.

Except that this year it will.

Finally Intel seems to have come up with a chipset that can work with very limited power requirements of the smart phone. Intel Atom Z2460, codenamed Medfield.

And they actually have a working phone here at Mobile World Congress.

Real-life Mario Kart given to lucky GameStop customer

Real-life Mario Kart given to lucky GameStop customer

Not too long ago, GameStop teamed up with Nintendo for an Epic Rewards Giveaway for GameStop customers. One lucky Mario Kart 7 pre-order customer, Nathanial Stehley, hit the jackpot today as a man dressed up in a Mario suit came over to his house and presented to him a life-sized kart from the game. And judging by the photographs, he received the Mario's very own iconic kart. The kart was created by the folks at West Coast Customs, and is fully functional, though there was no mention if it was road-legal. Remi Gaillard would probably be stoked to own one of these.

Spiral concept watch is confusing, but unique

If you're looking for a unique watch that will tell the time in a novel and interesting manner, Tokyo Flash is back with yet another submission, this time courtesy of Ignacio from Spain, who revealed his concept watch which is analog in nature, but will feature a spiral face (as pictured above). As usual with most Tokyo Flash submissions, attempting to tell the time upon first glance will be a near impossible task for some of us. However according to its designer, the longer you spend looking at it, the easier it will get for you, with the broader strokes marking the hours, while the double fine strokes will indicate the minutes.

China Mobile plans widespread rollout of TD-LTE network, 20,000 base stations to be operational this year

China Mobile announced a deal with Clearwire last fall to speed up the rollout of its TD-LTE network, and now China's largest wireless provider has revealed some additional details about when that rollout will take place and just how big it will be. Speaking at Mobile World Congress, China Mobile president Li Yu said that the company will have over 20,000 TD-LTE base stations in operation by the end of this year, and a full 200,000 up and running by the end of 2013. That initial deployment will occur in the six trial cities already announced, as well as three additional cities confirmed at MWC: Beijing, Tianjin and Qingdao.

Zinio's magazine app has certainly made the rounds - Android slabs, the Kindle Fire, the iPad and even the ill-fated TouchPad have had their shining moment with the digital service - but months of "consideration" for their platform have BlackBerry PlayBook owners feeling left out in the cold. Zinio, however, recently tweeted that a PlayBook app is coming "real soon," and one prospective customer decided to fish for more details by taking drastic measures: good, old, greasy bribery. The enterprising Twitter user promised to subscribe to more magazines if the company would tell him when the app is coming out and, well, it actually worked.

A black, Chinese-market Audi A6L is practically the poster-child for Communist Party officials who demand extra legroom rear legroom in a stretched version of standard sedan. The Chinese government reportedly spends 80 million renminbi ($12.7 million U.S.) per year on wheels for its bureaucrats, but according to a report in China Car Times the new list of approved cars available to officials is limited to Chinese models. That not only excludes the Audi – which is built in the country – but also BMW, Mercedes and the coming Infiniti M37 limo.

The Austrian unit of Canadian mega-supplier Magna International, Steyr has also helped countless automakers develop new vehicles and technologies, and though it doesn't market any vehicles under its own name, it often showcases its abilities with a series of concept cars labeled MILA.

The triumph comes thanks to a class-topping essay entitled "What I Did Over Winter Break: Redesigning the 2012 Impreza," which earned the rugged brand top marks in Small Sedans 101. Combined with high scores in other vehicle classes, Subaru knocked Honda from the valedictorian's position it has held for the past four years.

Just like last time we espied it, the electric city-dweller will have a top speed of 90MPH and rather languid 0-60 sprint of eleven seconds. No word on price, though, but those serious on joining the pilot will have to call San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC or Denver home.

Just a couple days ago, Samsung revealed the encore to the Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), showcasing the company's incredible ability to iterate slates using decidedly uncreative names. Today, a fresh bit of hardware looking suspiciously like that new Sammy slate made its way through the FCC's gauntlet of tests. This fresh bit of kit comes sporting AT&T-friendly WCDMA/HSPA 850x1900 and GSM 850x1900 radios, 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth and a GT-N8000 model number. Report: iPad 3 shipments on the way to United States, launching very soon

You can tell the iPad 3 launch is drawing closer because the Apple rumor mill is running so hard it's practically smoking at this point. Today brings yet more talk of the actual launch event itself, as opposed to gossip about the device in question. The iPad 3 is expected to be announced in early March, but, of course, it takes a bit of time to ship a massive number of iPads from Asia, where they're manufactured, to the United States. Today brings news that Apple has already started that process.
A posting over on Apple.pro claims to show official documentation that states several shipments from Foxconn are set to arrive at three U.S.

We're here at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and ASUS just formally unveiled the shape-shifting Padfone - just like it said it would. Even more than raw specs, what makes the phone striking are its accompanying accessories. Sure, you could use it as a standalone 4.3-inch handset, but it will also be sold with a so-called station that effectively turns it into a 10-inch tablet - not unlike how you can slip certain Moto handsets inside the company's netbook-like Lapdocks. It will also be sold with an optional keyboard dock (just like the Prime) and - get this - a stylus that doubles as a receiver for when you receive phone calls.

Fish are lazy, naive, easily led by robots (video)

What does a fish look for in a leader. No doubt a nice fishy smell is important, and maybe a sense of direction too, but the overriding factor happens to be something much simpler, and indeed simple enough for a robot to mimic. Our old friend Maurizio Porfiri and a colleague from New York's Polytechnic Institute have shown that a fish-bot will quickly attract live followers if it has a nice, fluid swimming motion. When the stroke is just right, real fish will pull up alongside and visibly relax their own motion to conserve energy, just like geese flying at the rear of a 'vee' formation.

Let's start with aesthetics. The AudiOffice looks awfully similar to the NVX 610 desktop VoIP phone we saw last fall, which is to say it comes in one color (white) with a quirky, colored piece of rubber cradling the receiver. All told, it's a clean, striking and aggressively minimal design. Some people are going to stop reading right here, if they even got past the lead image. There's not much to the dock in terms of openings and sockets, but you will find one USB 2.0 port 'round back, which you can use to make this your PC speaker - a convenient setup if you happen to make more VoIP calls from your desktop than your mobile.

HTC One V announced – the mid-range smartphone for the masses

The HTC One V is the third and final handset unveiled today by HTC at Mobile World Congress. While the HTC One X and HTC One S are intended for consumers who want bleeding edge technology, the One V is a device intended to have mass market appeal with mid-range specifications and an expected price that should be quite enticing. While the HTC One V is a brand new device, HTC fans will notice that the phone bares a striking resemblance to the HTC which made its debut at MWC two years ago. The HTC One V runs Android 4.0 with HTC Sense 4.0.
